The organizations we work for... (added on 03/01/2008)

YWAM Strategic Frontiers, YWAM SF – This is the base that we joined in 1995 when we first moved to Colorado Springs. They recruit, train and send people all around the world as long-term missionaries. They also send lots of short-term teams out to 1) support the long-term works and 2) expose people to what is going on in the hopes of recruiting more people to join the long-term teams. Maybe more importantly, they help the long-term workers build a network of people on the homefront so they aren’t “abandoned” out there. We (the Geigers) continue to be part of the homefront team for our workers in Tibet. This is very practical, as we take care of their mail, finances, and whatever needs they have that free them to minimize their trips back and be effective there.

YWAM Network for Strategic Initiatives, YWAM NSI – We are now on staff with this small office, which split off from YWAM SF a couple years ago. Fred recognized that he needed to be freed up from leading a base and focus on his strengths of connecting with and recruiting churches around the country to get involved in missions. Our office consists of about 30 people and our focus is on networking with big churches, getting them involved in key initiatives that are happening in missions in places like China and Iran. We take church groups on short-term trips to these places. Typically, when people want to get involved long-term, we refer them to other YWAM bases with long-term works in their area of interest since, at this time, we aren’t interested in building a large base. We have also been involved and will continue to recruit, train and raise up key leaders for the missions movement.
